Seasonal Variation of Radon Concentrations in Russian Residential High-Rise Buildings

Assessment of the annual radon concentration is often required in indoor surveys territories and individual dwellings for comparison with reference levels, studying factors affecting accumulation dwellings, assessment exposure epidemiological studies, etc. The were carried out multistorey buildings eight Russian cities using solid state nuclear track detectors an period three months. For these surveys, estimation was to compare levels high- low-energy-efficiency classes located different cities. To develop approaches seasonal normalization high-rise buildings, long-term one-hour series obtained applying radon-monitors 20 flats analyzed. dependency on indoor–outdoor temperature difference studied taking into account known natural, technogenic anthropogenic levels. developed model variations includes winter, summer, demi-season periods, which differ both ventilation intensity difference. allows estimate actual distribution outdoor temperatures during detectors.
